Who Visits Escape Stoke?

There’s a fairly broad range of people who visit Escape Stoke and they can range from corporate teams who are looking to improve their communication skills amongst other things, through to friends who are out to celebrate a birthday, the end of exams, as part of a stag do, or any other important milestone worthy of celebration. And here at Escape Stoke, we see all kinds of people coming to our rooms and having the times of their lives, so we know what we’re talking about.

Corporate Team Building Activities

Corporate teams like it because it helps new teams to break the ice and bond, and it helps leaders to recognise skills that might otherwise go unnoticed. It’s becoming quite popular and it’s also a perfect opportunity for the team to relax and unwind with a day away from work too.

Escape rooms are themed rooms where you and a team of friends or colleagues are locked in a room for 60 minutes, and in that time, they must first find, and then solve a series of puzzles and clues, only once they have collected all the clues and solved the puzzles do they escape the locked room. Question is will they get out within the 60 minutes?

Student's Test Themselves

Students love the escape rooms because they can play it for fun or really test themselves against the clock and it’s a great way to unwind when you’ve been working hard and meeting deadlines. It can also help students break the ice if they’re new to university and help them to bond with new friends.

Gamers Play

Gamers love escape games too as a fun alternative to online games. Here, they too can enjoy the opportunity to be around friends and have some downtime. Escape games are great fun and every bit as interactive as an online game, but just with a bit of realism and some fresh air thrown in!

Escape Rooms For Special Occasions

Escape games are also popular for birthdays, hen and stag dos. They’re one of the freshest and most unique ways for people to celebrate their special day in style. It gives sample opportunities for new people to get to know each other, and for members of the wedding party to become better acquainted with each other.

Families Escaping Together

A family all together in the same room may have taken days, weeks or months to arrange, but once everyone’s there, it’s time to remind yourselves of why you’re all such a great family team. Children can play too, they must come accompanied with parents naturally, but they can come and enjoy the escape room experience alongside their family and they’re bound to enjoy the whole thing.

How do Escape Games Improve Team Work?

If you’ve heard of escape games mentioned in the same breath as team work, you may be wondering what’s the connection and why should you care? However, if you run a company and hire a lot of staff, then you’ll be interested in a harmonious and productive work environment and escape games can help with that, but how?

Escape games are great team building exercises, and this is the main reason why companies such as yourself use them to help build a strong team. So how do escape games work?

Solve the puzzles escape, within the hour

Escape games consist of a team of people being locked in a room for 60 minutes where they must find some cryptic clues and puzzles, then work them out and use them to find a way out of the room. The rooms are all themed differently, and you choose which one you most want to use.

Communication skills

What’s great about the escape game is that while your team are locked in there they must communicate with each other in order to get out, thus encouraging communication skills. This will also help to break the ice and help new members of the team to bond with their fellow team mates.

Who works best as part of a team?

There may be some of them that believe themselves to be one-man bands, individuals rather than team players. This may not be what you’re looking for, although using your initiative is always welcome, you want people who can work together to get the same results. So, this is an ideal opportunity to see which of your team are able to work together well as a team.

Top Tips for Escape Rooms

If you’re about to, or have just booked an escape room event, you may be wondering about the right way of getting out and winning the game, well look no further because today, we’re going to be passing on some hints and tips which should help you once you’re locked in.

Choose your Team Carefully

Make sure you pick people who are good at maths, problem-solving, know how to stay cool in a crisis and are good at solving puzzles. Whoever you decide on make sure they’re people you like and you know you’re going to get on with. There’s nothing worse than being locked in a room with people who don’t get on with each other, it could be the longest hour of your life.

Team Building Activities

On the other hand, if this is part of a corporate venture where your boss is hoping to improve your performance with some team building activities, then you may not have a choice in who you’re locked in a room with. In which case, work together as best you can, the goal is to get out by solving the clues and puzzles, it’s 60 minutes out of your life and you never know, somewhere down the line it could result in a pay rise or a job promotion, just show your best side.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled

The rooms are themed and whichever room you choose the clues will be cleverly hidden where they won’t obviously be seen. You need to find them and then when you do, don’t lose them, because that’s the only way you’re going to get out. So, all clues and puzzles solved - keep them close to you.

Communication is Key

Communicate with your fellow prisoners while you’re in the locked room, because only by communicating and discussing what you think the clues mean will you get out. Your efforts to escape really will go to waste if you don’t talk to each other, show what you’ve found, discuss the clues, and also make sure you listen to what everyone else has to say, don’t dominate conversations, there’s more than one voice to be heard.

Use Your Time Wisely

There’ll be a clock and you’ll be counted down, but don’t become obsessed with the time as it goes by, just try and spend an equal amount of time on each clue and if you get stuck, move on.

Enjoy Yourself!

Perhaps you won't get out in time, but don’t be too hard on yourself, at the end of the day you did your best. There’s nothing worse than someone coming to you at the end and saying that you were so close and you only had a few more minutes, and you would have cracked it. Doesn’t make you feel better does it? But no sweat, because at the end of the day it’s not the end of the world. You’ve had a good time and that’s all that matters, so don’t take it too seriously.

Escape Stoke – Exciting & Challenging Escape Rooms

If you’ve decide you’ve got a pretty good idea now of how to crack it and beat the escape rooms in under 60 minutes, then why not book your room and come over? You may beat us, you may not, but what is certain is that you’ll have a great time. We look forward to seeing you.
