Things to Do in Stoke: Christmas

If you’re in or around the Stoke area this Christmas, then you’ll be looking for things to do in Stoke that are a little on the festive side. We’ve done all the hard work for you and come up with some great Christmas events coming up in Stoke, so all you’ve have to do is get out there and enjoy the experience.

Winter Wonderland

This is one way to get yourself some Christmas spirit by going along to the Winter Wonderland in the heart of the city centre. There’ll be the obligatory lights, and some beautifully crafted wooden walkways including some great characters and an impressive Christmas tree. There’ll also be a bar in the Bavarian style, a grill, festive food and drink and all served in a festively inspired wooden chalet.

Ice Rink

Of course Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without an ice rink, and this year Stoke have gone all out to make it as impressive as possible. There’ll be plenty of room for everyone to have a bash and don’t worry if you’re not an Olympic ice skater, the whole idea is to have fun, so have a go.

As usual there’ll be a pantomime for the kids and Stoke is no different, it’ll have its own pantomime for everyone to enjoy. This year is no exception, it’s Aladdin and stars Jonathan Wilkes and Christian Patterson. There’s romance, a flying carpet, a genie and no panto would be complete without an evil sorcerer.

There’ll be over 100 stalls this year at Stoke’s Christmas market. It’ll stretch from the King’s Hall to the Town Hall. There’ll be everything from unique handmade crafts and clothes for adults and children. There’ll be the usual specialist foods with beautifully made products from locally sourced materials, such as glass, ceramics, textiles and leather, so there’s something for everyone.

Escape games Stoke

After you’ve had a whizz round the ice rink, you’ve eaten your way through the Christmas Markets and you’ve drained your glass of mulled wine, why not make your way down to our Escape Rooms in Stoke? You’ll have a great time and with 1 hour to escape a themed room of your choice with friends, you’ll be focused on getting out in time and winning. You have puzzles and clues to find and then once you’ve found them, you’ll have to solve them to find your way out of the locked room. Do you have what it takes? If so, why not book now. we’ll be waiting.

Top Tips for Escape Rooms

If you’re about to, or have just booked an escape room event, you may be wondering about the right way of getting out and winning the game, well look no further because today, we’re going to be passing on some hints and tips which should help you once you’re locked in.

Choose your Team Carefully

Make sure you pick people who are good at maths, problem-solving, know how to stay cool in a crisis and are good at solving puzzles. Whoever you decide on make sure they’re people you like and you know you’re going to get on with. There’s nothing worse than being locked in a room with people who don’t get on with each other, it could be the longest hour of your life.

Team Building Activities

On the other hand, if this is part of a corporate venture where your boss is hoping to improve your performance with some team building activities, then you may not have a choice in who you’re locked in a room with. In which case, work together as best you can, the goal is to get out by solving the clues and puzzles, it’s 60 minutes out of your life and you never know, somewhere down the line it could result in a pay rise or a job promotion, just show your best side.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled

The rooms are themed and whichever room you choose the clues will be cleverly hidden where they won’t obviously be seen. You need to find them and then when you do, don’t lose them, because that’s the only way you’re going to get out. So, all clues and puzzles solved - keep them close to you.

Communication is Key

Communicate with your fellow prisoners while you’re in the locked room, because only by communicating and discussing what you think the clues mean will you get out. Your efforts to escape really will go to waste if you don’t talk to each other, show what you’ve found, discuss the clues, and also make sure you listen to what everyone else has to say, don’t dominate conversations, there’s more than one voice to be heard.

Use Your Time Wisely

There’ll be a clock and you’ll be counted down, but don’t become obsessed with the time as it goes by, just try and spend an equal amount of time on each clue and if you get stuck, move on.

Enjoy Yourself!

Perhaps you won't get out in time, but don’t be too hard on yourself, at the end of the day you did your best. There’s nothing worse than someone coming to you at the end and saying that you were so close and you only had a few more minutes, and you would have cracked it. Doesn’t make you feel better does it? But no sweat, because at the end of the day it’s not the end of the world. You’ve had a good time and that’s all that matters, so don’t take it too seriously.

Escape Stoke – Exciting & Challenging Escape Rooms

If you’ve decide you’ve got a pretty good idea now of how to crack it and beat the escape rooms in under 60 minutes, then why not book your room and come over? You may beat us, you may not, but what is certain is that you’ll have a great time. We look forward to seeing you.

There are wonderful things to do when you’re in Stoke if you know where to go, and if you’re on a trip here we’re going to point you in the right direction of some of Stoke’s most loved attractions. We’re going to specifically find family friendly ones just in case you bring the whole family here.

We’ve picked five of the best, so enjoy:

Our first choice is Kilnworx Climbing Centre, this is great fun for all the family with over 1200 acres of open space with a rope adventure experience. There’s also a Barefoot Walk where you can walk with the whole family, trying out the sensations of mud, leaves and water from a stream.

Trentham Monkey Forest

Again, some much welcome open space with the Trentham Monkey Forest. There’s lots of macaques around so look out for them, and if you’re lucky you’ll get into close contact with the monkeys. There are guides around so you’ll be perfectly safe, and if you have any questions they’re on hand to answer them. There’s also hourly feeding where the guide will talk to you about the macaques.

The Potteries

The Potteries in Stoke on Trent have a great past and an even more exciting future, and if you’re interested in finding out more about the rich heritage of the potteries you can pay them a visit. Alton Towers Theme Park

Alton Towers is perhaps one of Stoke’s most famous venues. It boasts well over 50 rides and attractions, with live entertainment as well as themed rides and lots of children’s characters around. There’s always something new at Alton Towers and this year is no exception. With the rather excitingly titled Furchester Hotel Live Show you’ll get to spend time with Funella, Elmo and the Cookie Monster and Phoebe and Furgus. All great fun. The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery

This museum boasts one of the finest collections of ceramics in the world. This includes the National Minton Collection. So, if you’re really into Staffordshire ceramics this is the place for you. Sports Day

A sports day that really is like a proper sports day with the fun of participation and that all so important competitive element. It’s an Olympics for the workers and you’ll get all those activities you’ve come to expect from a sports day, such as track and field, and football, hockey and golf to name but a few. You can either attend for the full day or just for an hour.

It's a Knockout

Take On the Challenge at Escape Stoke

How can you have fun, engage in team building activities, AND get your workers to enjoy a bonding session?

Take part in one of our fantastic Escape games. Because this is where it starts to get interesting. Your key people are locked in a room and they have to find a way out by working out crazy puzzles and various clues. They’re working against the clock and communication is key.

We Know What You Need From Your Team

Escape Stoke understands the type of skills crucial to running a successful business, so much so that we’ve created the Escape challenge specifically designed to exploit and enhance negotiation, communication and intuition skills. You need a team that thinks on its feet and can laterally think it’s way out of any problem. Not only will they have fun, it’ll help to boost morale and increase confidence.

Do They Want to Win? – Inspire That Sense of Achievement

They’ll need to work out the clues, because they’ll be locked in a room and there’s only one way out, and that’s to use all of their skills and put them together in order to escape. Communication will be key then, and they’ll need to be quick as they only have an hour. There’s a series of riddles, clues and puzzles and maybe even a code to crack, and your team will have to be pretty inventive and a little creative if they want to leave on time and win. Leave the room with your trophy in the allocated time allowed and you’re a winner.

Identify Where Your Team’s Skills Lie

As you can imagine, it’s the perfect way to identify key talent, so you’ll see who’s good at what and who’s able to solve certain problems quickly and under pressure. You’ll know who you can count on when that project needs someone with a hands-on approach and works well under stress.

We Can Help Your Team Flourish

Escape will help your team flourish in ways you hadn’t thought possible, because at the very moment they’re locked in that room, they start to recognise and use the key skills they need to escape, and you get to identify the key players in your team, the kind of skills you can utilise in your organisation. They’ll find out what it takes to get out and feel a sense of accomplishment when they do finally escape. Yes, that’s how it feels to get a project wrapped, and once they have that feeling pumping through their veins, you’re all set to take advantage of that in the workplace.

Why is Team Building So Important?

It’s important because it’s how a project gets done successfully. As is often the case, if a team isn’t working as well as it should, productivity is compromised, and it’s usually as the result of poor communication, poor relations between workmates, and boredom in the job. If you’re not utilising their skills to the max, then yes, certain members of your team will be bored. Team building is the perfect antidote to feelings of flatness, boredom and apathy. It’ll help you to recognise their skills so you can utilise them back at work, and help your workers find out more about each other.

Want to Build a Successful Team? – Come to Escape

The experience of focusing on a task in order to get the right results is going to help them recognise what they need to do to in order to get that great buzz from the feelings of success. So, if you’d like to encourage your team to bond, work together find a way out of our testing escape rooms, then book with us.
